EVPassport Launches First Open EV Charging Platform for Purpose-Driven Organizations
In the world of technology, there are two fundamentally opposing viewpoints. There’s the perspective that closed products create the best user experiences. On the other end, there is the position that open ecosystems are for the betterment of all humankind.
All EV charging networks in the United States and Canada stand firmly in camp number one… until today.
EVPassport is proud to be the first open EV Charging Hardware and Software Platform provider for purpose-driven organizations to create customer focused EV charging experiences.
EVPassport is proud to be the first open EV Charging Hardware and Software Platform provider for purpose-driven organizations to create customer focused EV charging experiences.
EVPassport prides itself on being the only charging network in North America that does not require an app or account to pay for charging; drivers simply scan a QR code and use Apple Pay, Google Pay, or their credit card.
We are taking it a step further by opening our entire live charging network to developers, allowing brands to integrate EV chargers on their properties into their mobile guest experiences.
Why can’t EV charging exist where customers already go? Finding, accessing, and paying for charging through Google Maps and Apple Maps is only the start for us. We must do even better.
Whether it is allowing hotel guests to book a charger for their weekend holiday, or a football fan reserving a charger during the big game, we believe these integrations will establish fundamentally more inclusive, and accessible charging user experiences.
In order to achieve this, we are putting our chargers where our ideals are. Starting today, we are opening our network to all developers.
Not a single major electric vehicle charging network in the United States has open APIs. Until now.
Developers will be able to sign up for an account, similar to how they can for Stripe, Twilio, and thousands of other services, and receive the following information from EVPassport powered chargers.
- Locations
- Charger availability
- Charger cost (USD)
- Charge Speed
- Plug Type
Any brand or developer will be able to integrate the data and payment system directly into their own mobile experiences.
The average consumer uses APIs hundreds of times a day. Accessing bank data via Robinhood requires APIs, as does Expedia pulling flight information and being able to book a Delta Airlines ticket.
Fintech offers simple and secure APIs, Infrastructure Technology (InfraTech) companies must follow suit.
EVPassport believes innovation occurs where you least expect it and walled gardens reduce the pace of progress, which greatly limits the runway we have to solve our climate crisis. Open, universal access must be implemented if we want to create next-generation transportation solutions for the American consumer.
We’re excited for you to take this journey with us, and together we can build frictionless electric vehicle charging experiences.
